The Sabbath And The Cross

The glorious cross of Christ has become, as it were, a symbol of the love of God, the sacrifice of Christ, and the crucifixion of the old man of sin.

The Sabbath is the sign of God’s power to raise us up to a new life in Christ Jesus, to a new fellowship of love and holiness, to an experience of rest and peace. As God rested from His works, so the believer rests from his works and enters into the rest of God. The Sabbath is the sign of this rest. (Hebrews 4:4-10.)

The Sabbath is the sign of creatorship, rulership, and fellowship; the sign of peace and rest and power. It is inextricably and forever bound up in all that involves fellowship between the Creator and His creatures. It is the golden clasp that binds God’s children to Himself.

He who would abolish the Sabbath must challenge God the Creator and Redeemer, for whom the Sabbath stands.
